Getting here

Koh Mak is located in the East of the Gulf of Thailand, 52 kilometers from
the mainland. Lying between Koh Chang and Koh Kood.

Koh Mak, with an area of 16 square kilometers and a 27 kms coastline,
is the third largest island of the Marine Park. It has a mainly flat terrain with plenty
of coconut and rubber plantations.

To reach Koh Mak you need to travel to Trat, from Trat there are a few options Laem
Ngob the main pier or from Laem Sok or via Koh Chang.

FROM BANGKOK TO TRAT

By plane...
The easiest and quickest is Bangkok Airways, the only airline flying from Bangkok to Trat. During the
low season there are 2 flights daily, during high/peak season there are 3 flights a day.

By Taxi...
easy to take an air-con taxi from anywhere in Bangkok / Suvarnabhumi Airport to Laem Ngob pier (Laem Ngob pier is the speed boat services to Koh Mak) for around 3000 baht split between 3 or 4 people is a possible option, the trip is around 3 hours.

By Minibus...

Leaving Victory Monument (in front of Ratchawithee Hospital) brings you to  Laem Ngob. Don’t forget to tell the driver you going to Koh Mak as the speedboats to Koh Mak only leave from Laem Ngob pier. It is leaving every hour starting from 5:00 am till 18:00 pm, the journey takes around 4 hours. Costs 300 baht.

Mini buses also leave from the Khao San road, you can book with your hotel or any of the Khao San road travel agencies. Again don’t forget to tell your driver you are going to Koh Mak.

By Bus...

There are 3 bus stations in Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi Airport, Ekamai Bus Station and Northern Bus Terminal Morchit 

Aircon buses leave every hour from Ekamai bus station (Sukumvit Road) to Trat, the trip takes a little over 5 hours and costs around 300 baht. At 07.45 and 09.45  there is a bus, bus 999, which departs Ekamai to Laem Ngob/ Center point pier. Don’t forget to tell the driver you want to go to Koh Mak.

Aircon buses leave Morchit bus station (Northern Bus station) around every 2 hours, to Trat. The cost is around 300 baht and takes a little over 4 hours, this is due to the Bus taking the toll roads out of Bangkok. 

Aircon buses leave Suvarnabhumi airport at the following times 06.40, 10.10, 11.40, 13.10, 16.10 and 18.10. There is a free shuttle bus that connects Suvarnabhumi airport and the airport bus station, walk to the ground level and the bus leaves outside on the left side every 10 minutes.

FROM TRAT TO LAEM NGOB

By Songtaews...

Shared Songtaews (Blue converted pick up trucks) leave when full from the taxi stand opposite the Trat indoor market. The 16km trip takes 30 minutes and costs 50 baht per person. 
Don't forget to tell the driver you want to go to Koh Mak or he may take you to Centre Point or another pier serving Koh Chang.

By Taxi...

From Trat to Laem Ngob Pier by Taxi. You can rent a 'Songtaew' from the taxi stand opposite the Trat indoor market. The trip takes 20 minutes and costs around 200 baht. Don't forget to tell the driver you want to go to Koh Mak.


FROM LAEM NGOB TO KOH MAK

By Speedboat...

There are two speed boat companys:

Lelawadee Speedboat company departs from Laem Ngob pier daily at 10.30 and 14.00. The 52 km trip takes around 1 hour and costs 450 baht. You arrive at Makathanee pier.

Panan Speedboat company departs from Laem Ngob pier daily at 12.00 and 16.00. The 52 km trip takes around 1 hour and costs 450 baht. You arrive at Koh Mak resort pier.


FROM KOH CHANG / KOH WAI TO KOH MAK

By Speedboat...

There are now 2 companies coming from Koh Chang:

Bang bao speedboat leaves Koh Chang from Bang Bao pier at 09.00 and 12.00. The trip is 30 minutes and cost 550 baht. You arrive at Koh Mak resort.

Koh Chang Speedboats leaves Koh Chang from Kai Bae pier at 09.00 and 11.00. The trip is 60 minutes and costs 600 baht. You arrive at Makathanee pier.

By Slowboat...

There is also a daily slow boat that departs at 9 am from Bang Bao pier. The 34 km trip takes 2 hours and costs 400 baht. You arrive at Koh Mak resort pier.
